Welcome to my blog, I'm so glad you're here! My name is Jaycie and I am the mind behind The Soaring Swine. I'm also an administrative assistant at a local community college, love to dabble in kitchen art and am quite the craft enthusiast (yes, this means I love Pinterest)! In addition to my work, I also am an avid gym-rat, and have had to find and cultivate fitness motivation.
I started my weight loss journey in June of 2013, weighing a hefty-for-my-frame 265lbs. After quite a bit of introspection, and to be honest many breathless flights of stairs, I decided it was time for a change - you can read all about it in The Final Straw: How I Finally Kicked My Own Butt in Gear. Back then, I hadn't the faintest idea about what 'healthy' really meant, let alone how to apply it to my relation to gravity.
I wanted to create this forum for those who also face or are currently facing the same health and wellness struggles I once did by offering healthy recipes, providing perspective, and motivation to those either just starting out or simply trying to move past their current fitness plateau.
I am inspired by friends, fellow gym-fanatics, cookbooks, other fitness blogs, magazines... the list goes on and on.
